DENTON, Chief Justice.

K & M Paving Company brought this suit against Pioneer Natural Gas Company *535for the loss of an earth moving machine which resulted from an explosion and fire. While in the process of excavating on a highway construction project in Lubbock County, the machine struck a gas transmission line belonging to the defendant below. The gas line was cut and the explosion and fire followed. The case was tried before a jury. Based on the jury verdict, judgment was entered for the plaintiff in the amount of $12,500.00.
