On July 13, 2015, the Providence County Superior Court vacated the conviction of Raymond “Beaver” Tempest Jr. (Tempest) for the 1982 homicide of Doreen Picard (Picard). On September 22, 2015, this Court granted the state’s petition for a writ of certiorari. Before us, the state argues that the Superior Court erred in vacating Tempest’s conviction on the basis of two Brady1 violations founded on the state’s suppression of favorable evidence and a due process violation based on improper witness coaching by the Woonsock-et Police Department.
