— In the early morning of February 17, 1951, defendant Clinton Ridgeway, driving an empty tractor-trailer transport owned by defendant Martin L. Freeman eastward on Highway 30 near Dows City in Crawford County, Iowa, collided with a one and one-half ton. truck loaded with cattle, owned and operated by the plaintiff, Harms, proceeding west ward. There was little question as to the liability of defendant Ridgeway and he did not appear or defend at the trial.
