The plaintiffs in error, Edward Eccarius and Forrest Bowers, were convicted in the criminal court of Cook county of the crime of rape and sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment in the penitentiary in accordance with the verdict of a jury.

Grace E. Moore, eighteen years of age, came to Chicago about June 9, 1921, secured employment with Albert Pick & Co. as an adjuster in the office, and went to live at the Queen Esther Home, 1906 Prairie avenue, a rooming and boarding house for working girls maintained by the Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
