SABERS, Justice.
[¶ 1.] Michael Sweedland (Sweedland) appeals the circuit court’s denial of his *410motion to suppress evidence obtained from the search of his vehicle. We reverse.
Facts
[¶ 2.] On the morning of February 13, 2005, Jay Pearson (Pearson) was cleaning one of the rooms in the Budget Host Jackpot Inn Motel in Deadwood, South Dakota. During that time, Pearson smelled what he believed to be marijuana smoke emanating from two rooms across the hallway.
