Defendant, Jason Scott Tuffo, pled guilty to misdemeanor sexual assault. The district court found he was a "sexually violent predator" (SVP), subject to lifetime registration and community notification requirements. Defendant argues (1) the SVP statute does not cover misdemeanors and (2) the court's findings were insufficient We reject the former contention, and hold the SVP statute applies to misdemeanor sexual assaults in violation of section 18-3-402(1)(e), C.R.S. 2008. We agree with the latter, and remand for "specific findings of fact" required by the SVP…
