OPINION OF THE COURT

The ex parte application by MP (petitioner) for a writ of habeas corpus directing the respondent, Charles Ramesar, M.D., Deputy Director of Bellevue Hospital Center, Department of Psychiatry, to release him from the hospital is granted.
Petitioner is a 26-year-old male with a documented history of violence and incarceration but no formal psychiatric history who, at the time of the hearing, was residing at the Jack Ryan Residence homeless shelter (shelter).
