It will be necessary, in the first place, to consider the nature and effect of the judgment obtained by the president and directors of the Manhattan Company, against the heirs and devisees of Mrs. Osgood. This corporation prosecuted Walter Franklin Osgood, Edmund C. Genet and Martha B. his wife, Samuel Osgood and Juliana his wife, Susan K. Osgood and other defendants, as heirs and devisees of Maria Osgood, deceased. All the defendants pleaded riens per descent.
