This is a suit to remove from office the judge of a district court. It belongs to one of the few classes of cases of which the Supreme Court has original jurisdiction. The proceeding is founded upon the provisions of sections 1 and 5 of article 9 of the Constitution. Section 1 specifies the causes for which any state or district officer shall be liable to impeachment, and *128section 5 declares- that the judges of the courts of record may be removed from office by a judgment of the Supreme Court, for any of the causes specified in section 1.
