OPINION

LEDERBERG, Justice.

The issue in this appeal is whether the collective-bargaining agreement (agreement or contract) entered into between the Providence Teachers Union (union) and the Providence School Board (board) for the school years 1992 through 1995 was valid and enforceable. The Superior Court ruled that the agreement was not valid and therefore vacated an arbitration award rendered pursuant to an arbitration clause in the agreement. The union appealed.
