These four appeals arose from the same medical malpractice action. About 8:30 p.m. on October 20, 1992, James R. Brown was admitted to the emergency room at DeKalb Medical Center, Inc. (“the hospital”). His tongue was swollen, and he had difficulty swallowing. Emergency room personnel medicated Mr. Brown and called his reg ular physician, Alan O. Feingold.
