Winthrop, Mitchell & Company, hereinafter referred to as defendants, were members of the New York, Chicago and other stock exchanges. On July 10, 1933, they opened a Detroit office with Earle A. Gardner as branch manager, succeeding the firm of Harris, Winthrop & Company which previously had a branch in Detroit. The latter had employed one John W. Adams as a telegraph operator in its New York office. Subsequently, Adams was employed by the Detroit branch of Whitehouse & Company, a large New York stock exchange house, where he met plaintiff’s husband, John E. Moore, of Detroit. Moore was…
