SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:

During May and June of 1991, appellant was tried in absentia by a military judge sitting as a general court-martial at Naval Station, Mayport, Florida. Contrary to pleas entered on his behalf by the military judge, he was found guilty of larceny (7 specifications), wrongful appropriation (4 specifications), and forgery, in violation of Articles 121 and 123, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 921 and 923, respectively.
