On April 15, 1986, Sarah .Kimmons (Kimmons) visited the dentist’s office for a root canal procedure. Dr. C. Kenneth Sherman performed the procedure. During that visit, Kimmons was injured when Sherman allegedly broke a portion of the endodontic file in the root of her left front molar. In April 1987, Kimmons and her husband, William Kimmons (plaintiffs), filed petitions alleging Sherman injured her.
