Obediah Jackson, Sr., died in the year 1865, leaving Obediah, Jr., Francis and Alice Mary, his children, and heirs at law. At the time of his death, he owned a large amount of real estate and a considerable amount of personal property. His son Obediah administered on his estate, but never settled or distributed the personalty. In October, 1871, the greater portion of the buildings on the property in Chicago was consumed by fire.
