Appellant was convicted of a violation of Penal Code section 459 (burglaiy) following a jury trial. There is overwhelming evidence of guilt—appellant was discovered in the process of burglarizing a residence in Bakersfield. He left the scene in his car and was subsequently arrested as a result of the victim noting the license number of the car. Appellant was positively identified by the victim as the burglar.

The sole issue on appeal is whether the trial judge improperly curtailed voir dire examination of the prospective jurors by allowing each attorney only 30…
