The People bring an interlocutory appeal under C.A.R. 4.1 to contest the trial court's order suppressing evidence seized pursuant to an investigatory stop of the defendant's truck. We hold that the investigating officer retained the authority to detain the defendant and check the validity of the defendant's identifying information even though the officer expressed his decision not to issue the defendant a traffic citation.
