Defendant, Vernon Edwards, was convicted of one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and two counts of armed robbery. Pursuant to section 5 — 8—4(a) of the Unified Code of Corrections (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 38, par. 1005 — 8—4(a)), the trial court sentenced defendant to concurrent 10-year terms on the armed robbery counts and imposed a 10-year sentence on the aggravated criminal sexual assault charge which was to run consecutive to the sentences for armed robbery.
