GREENE, Judge.

On November 30, 1977, defendant Glynn Owens was found guilty in the Circuit Court of New Madrid County of two counts of rape, after trial by jury. Defendant filed a motion for new trial on December 14, 1977, which motion was denied. On January 13, 1978, the trial judge sentenced *368defendant to life imprisonment, in accordance with the verdict of the jury, on the two counts of rape, said sentences to run concurrently.
