The trial court allowed the defendant’s motion for summary judgment on the plaintiff’s suit to recover $4,000 death benefit from a group insurance policy and denied the plaintiff’s companion motion for summary judgment. The basic issue to be determined here is the effective date of the policy and the effective date of the policy as to this beneficiary depends upon a determination of whether the term “compensated service” includes “vacation” pay.
