OPINION OF THE COURT
GRAVELLE, Judge:
A military judge sitting as a general court-martial, convicted the appellant, contrary to his pleas, of attempted unpremeditated murder, assault consummated by a battery upon a child under the age of sixteen years (two specifications), and false swearing, in violation of Articles 80, 128, and 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. §§ 880, 928, and 934 (1982), respectively.1 The convening authority approved the adjudged sentence of a dishonorable discharge, confinement for eleven years, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and reduction to Private…
