I. INTRODUCTION

These consolidated employment discrimination cases allege causes of action under Title VII, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq., and 42 U.S.C. § 1981. The principal action, Lott v. Westinghouse Savannah River Co., Inc., et al., C.A. No. 1:98-2075-22, is a putative class action brought by 98 named Plaintiffs on behalf of a potential class of over 4,000 former, current and future African American employees of the four Defendant companies operating the Savannah River Site (SRS) for the United States Department of Energy.
