With the assistance of counsel, Jerry Michael McCroskey entered nonnegotiated guilty pleas to criminal charges contained in three separate indictments. After being sentenced, McCroskey discharged his attorney and moved to withdraw his guilty pleas based on ineffective assistance of counsel. Among other things, McCroskey claims that counsel erroneously advised him that he could withdraw his guilty pleas as a matter of right even after pronouncement of sentence.
