delivered the opinion of the court.

Plaintiffs, Elizabeth Hogan and Mary Burke, brought separate actions against defendant, City of Chicago, to recover damages for personal injuries. The injuries were alleged to have been sustained by plaintiffs when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by an automobile owned and operated by one Sam Jones, an employee of the City of Chicago.
