This is an action to try title, brought by the state of Louisiana and the Louisiana Land & Exploration Company, the assignee of the state’s lessee. The land involved is located at Hackberry, in the parish of Cameron, and, though once above water, is now under the waters of Calcasieu Lake. This condition of the land is due almost entirely, if not entirely, to the washing away of the surface of the land by the waves on the lake.
