I. NATURE OF CASE
The appellant, Juan L. Leonor, was charged by amended information in the Douglas County District Court with first degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony for his actions on November 20, 1999. He was charged in a separate case with two counts of second degree murder and two counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony for his actions on November 22,1999. After a consolidated trial, Leonor was found guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to serve prison terms of 20 years to life on each second degree murder count, 5 to 10 years on each of the three…
