Manning brought a writ of habeas corpus against Mr. and Mrs. J. W. A. Crawford, to recover possession of his infant daughter. Upon the hearing of the writ the trial court awarded' the custody of the child to the respondents, who are her maternal grandfather and grandmother. It appears from the record that the mother of the child was for several months hovering between life and death. She tried several times to see her mother, but circumstances prevented it. Finally she was brought to a hospital in the city of Atlanta, and, in response to a letter from her brother, her mother answered her…
