Rebecca Wells sued' the Brush Electric Light & Power Company for $10,000 damages, alleging, in substance, that on May 27, 1896, her husband, Marlow Wells, while in the employment of the defendant company and engaged, under its direction, in repairing or doing necessary work on the lead wires used for the lighting of a drug-store in the city of Savannah, received a violent shock from a current of electricity which, without his knowledge, was suddenly and unexpectedly turned on the wires, resulting in his death.
