This is the first case involving our revised Rule 55.03, which became effective July 1, 1986. This rule was borrowed from the amended Rule 11, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The revised federal rule demonstrated concern about lawyer irresponsibility and our Court, in following the federal model, directed its attention to the same problem and modified our existing, toothless rule. The holding of the principal opinion, which does not give any attention to the history and purpose of Rule 55.03, unnecessarily restricts our courts in dealing with lawyers who abuse the processes of the Court by…
