12Pefendant/appellant, Nathan Pettus (“Pettus”), appeals his conviction for simple robbery in violation of La. R.S. 14:65.

Pettus was charged with simple robbery in 2008 and pled not guilty. On December 2 and 3, 2009, the case was tried before a six-person jury, and they found him guilty as charged. He filed oral motions for new trial and post-verdict judgment of acquittal. The motion for new trial was denied and, subsequently, the trial judge sentenced Pettus to imprisonment at hard labor for seven years to run consecutively with any other sentences currently…
