On Sunday, September 12, 1976, at about 2:00 p.m., Charles Williams and Rev. Joe Taylor were engaged in a conversation in front of Williams' residence. Taylor was seated in his automobile, and Williams was standing by the driver's side. They had attended church that morning and had just returned from visiting someone in the hospital.
