On the night of June 6, 1988, Anthony Graves confronted and reproached a large group of teenagers *136for throwing bottles at five girls as they walked along the street. An argument ensued and one of the group stabbed and killed him. The defendant was identified as the assailant. On appeal from his conviction for murder in the second degree, the defendant’s principal contention is that the trial judge violated G.
