Codefendants, Edwin Suarez and Carlos Creasy, were jointly indicted for murder and three counts of attempted murder arising from a September 26, 1985, shooting at a tavern, which left one person dead and three others wounded. Defendants were granted a trial severance. A jury found Suarez guilty of murder and attempted murder. He received a 40-year sentence for the murder and one 15-year term for each count of attempted murder, to be served concurrently with one another, but consecutively to the murder sentence. Another jury convicted Creasy of murder, but acquitted him of all attempt charges.…
