{¶ 1} As this appeal involves the propriety of a summary judgment that was entered in favor of defendant-appellee, Mansfield Board of Education, we will construe the evidence most strongly in favor of plaintiffs-appellants, Tony and Sandra Yates.

{¶ 2} In a 2002 affidavit, Amanda, formerly a ninth-grade student at the Cline Avenue campus of Mansfield Senior High School, said that during the 1996-1997 school year, she informed certain school officials, including principal Michael Joseph Dick, that on three separate occasions, “Donald Coots, a coach and teacher at the school, made inappropriate…
