Officer Martin Faul fatally shot Qua-maine Mason while responding to a reported armed robbery. Mr. Mason’s parents, Brenda and Billy Mason (together, the Masons), sued Faul asserting Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment violations. The Masons also brought Monell1 claims against Faul’s employer, Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government (Lafayette), and James Craft, Lafayette’s Chief of Police.
