This is a consolidated appeal. Following a jury trial, defendants John Brandon, Michael Williams and Robert Jackson were convicted of the murder of Willie Ray Thompson on November 19, 1984. Williams was sentenced to a 40-year prison term; Brandon and Jackson were each sentenced to 35-year prison terms. Robert Jackson is not a party to this appeal. On appeal, Brandon and Williams each contend that: (1) he was not proved guilty of murder beyond a reasonable doubt; and (2) during closing argument, counsel for codefendant Robert Jackson made accusative comments about each of them which denied…
