This case came before the Supreme Court on December 14, 1998, pursuant to an order directing the parties to show cause why the issues raised by this appeal should not be summarily decided. The plaintiffs, Lawrence T. Carlson, Robert L. Carlson, and Adele M. Carr, have appealed from a summary judgment by the Superior Court in favor of the defendants, the Town of Smithfield (town) and Dennis G. Finley, Treasurer. After hearing the arguments of counsel for the parties and reviewing their memoranda, we are of the opinion that no cause has been shown. Therefore, the appeal will be decided…
