Appeal by the defendants, Thomas L. Feitner and others, as commissioners of taxes and assessments of the city of New York, from an order of the Supreme Court, made at the New York Special Term and entered in the office of the clerk of the county of New York on the 10th day of May, 1900, declaring them in - contempt for failing to file a return to the writ of certiorari issued in this proceeding.

The relator presented a petition to the Supreme Court upon which a writ of certiorari was granted, which recited that the relator is a domestic corporation having its principal place of business in the borough of Queens, in the city and State of Now York, and is aggrieved .by a final determination of the defendants in relation to the assessment of certain real estate in the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn, in said city, and which writ required the defendants to make a return at a Special Term of the Supreme Court to be held at the court house in the city and county of New York on…
