Robert Abrams appeals from a judgment entered following a jury trial hi the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (Sprizzo, /.), convicting him of three counts of subscribing to false personal tax returns in violation of 26 U.S.C.' § 7206(1). On the first day of the eight-week trial, one juror sent a note asking the court to instruct the jurors not to discuss the case until they were instructed to begin deliberations.
