In this suit plaintiff, Mississippi River Fuel Corporation, challenges the right of the defendant, State of Louisiana, through its Collector of Revenue, to levy and collect a severance tax on oil, gas, or other minerals severed from property located within the State of Louisiana but owned by the United States Government, and on which plaintiff, a private corporation, holds an oil and gas lease.
