At a joint trial, the jury found defendant Cagle guilty of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and first-degree murder on the basis of premeditation and deliberation and under the felony murder rule. The jury found defendant Scott guilty of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and first-degree felony murder. Following a capital sentencing proceeding pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 15A-2000, the jury recommended a sentence of death for defendant Cagle and a sentence of life imprisonment for…
