On August 6,1943 Helen Miehalowski filed her statement of claim in the municipal court of Chicago praying judgment for $798, and interest, as the balance due on a loan of money allegedly made to Adolph Stefanowski, the defendant. A writ of summons was issued on August 6, 1943. The bailiff made a return on August 16, 1943 that the defendant could not be found. An alias summons was issued on August 27, 1943.
