Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Warren County (Hall, J.), rendered March 29, 2006, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crimes of assault in the second degree (two counts) and endangering the welfare of a child.

When defendant and his girlfriend brought her five-week-old child to the hospital, medical personnel suspected that the child *580had been abused. Testing revealed two fractures to the child’s arm and 26 fractures to the child’s 24 ribs.
