We must determine here where a prison inmate “lives” within the meaning of G. L. c. 223, § 1, the venue statute for transitory actions.2 We conclude that, for purpose of *194the statute, an inmate “lives” both in the county where he maintains his domicile and in the county in which he is incarcerated at the time suit is brought.
