This is an action to recover damages for the failure of the defendants to transport and deliver a letter, containing a check for seven hundred and ninety-two dollars, received from the plaintiff at their office in San José, inclosed in a sealed letter envelope, addressed to H. M. Newhall & Co., San Francisco. The defendants do not appear to have been informed that the sealed envelope contained the check.
