On June 15, 1993, defendant Flagan T. Pickens was charged by information with unlawful possession of not more than 2.5 grams of cannabis per section 4(a) of the Cannabis Control Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 561/2, par. 704(a) (now 720 ILCS 550/4 (West 1994))). Defendant filed a motion to suppress evidence seized in a December 17, 1992, consent search of his house.
