Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Knipel, J.), rendered December 4, 2001, convicting him attempted murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, upon a jury verdict, and imposing sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.

Contrary to the defendant’s contention, the trial court providently exercised its discretion in its Sandoval ruling (see People v Sandoval, 34 NY2d 371 [1974]; People v Antonelli, 6 AD3d 543 [2004]; People v Stevenson, 5 AD3d 405 [2004]).
