In 1990, the defendant was convicted by a New York county jury of murder in the second degree, attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and two counts each of criminal use of a firearm in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
