Morgan City is located on the east bank of the Atchafalaya river, or Berwick’s bay, as that part of the river, where the town is located, is known locally. Across the river from where the town is situated is the municipality of Berwick. Both towns are located in the parish of St. Mary, and the state highway, known as the Old Spanish Trail, runs through both of them.
