This is a proceeding by plaintiff, •a municipal corporation, to condemn private property for the purpose of extending Main street from Twenty-fourth street to Grand avenue. The proceeding was begun in the mayor’s court, pursuant to an ordinance ■of the city, and appealed to the circuit court. A number of persons whose property was taken or damaged were parties to the proceedings, among them the defendant and several incorporated business companies.
